MTHL - THE LONGEST SEABRIDGE IN INDIA
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link is a six-lane structure, spanning a length of 21.8 km, making it the longest sea bridge in India. Out of this total stretch, 16.50 km extends over the sea, while the remaining 5.5 km crosses over land.

LOWERING THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Rs 330 crore was designated for the MTHL's environmental plan, covering mangrove plantations, tree relocation, and pollution monitoring. The MMRDA introduced a groundbreaking fisherman compensation policy—the first in India—initiated after a comprehensive social impact assessment study, compensating fishermen based on the impact on their livelihoods and families.

IMPROVING CONNECTIVITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The bridge is set to enhance connectivity within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region by linking Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, alleviating traffic congestion and fostering economic development. This infrastructure improvement will enable individuals to travel from Sewri in central Mumbai to Chirle in Navi Mumbai in just 15 to 20 minutes.

SAFE AND SECURE
To enhance security, CCTV cameras are installed every 250 meters and will undergo continuous monitoring. Emergency call boxes will be strategically placed at regular intervals. Additionally, the bridge will feature two small police chowkies, with emergency services and support vehicles stationed midway for prompt assistance.

SEAMLESS TOLL EXPERIENCE
Vehicles crossing the bridge will no longer need to stop for toll payments, thanks to the implementation of the Open Tolling System. This system eliminates the requirement for vehicles to halt on the bridge, ensuring a continuous flow of traffic. This enhancement improves efficiency and convenience for commuters, facilitating a smoother journey across the bridge without unnecessary stops.
